Our Team

Effective transformation for nature and people must respond to local contexts. We therefore work directly with local communities, civil society, policymakers, researchers, and the private sector to develop and test approaches that combine scientific evidence with local knowledge and experience. Through our Regional Hubs, the Wyss Academy for Nature currently works in East Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, and Central Europe, in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland.

Research is central to how the Wyss Academy understands complex relationships between people and nature and identifies where and how change can happen. Our professors and Research Teams combine disciplinary expertise with interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research, working closely with the Regional Hubs and partners to generate evidence in different social and environmental contexts.

Across the Wyss Academy, research helps inform the design and adaptation of practical approaches, while also contributing to a broader understanding of how systems change. Synthesis and research integration connect insights across disciplines and regions, and close collaboration with the Engagement unit helps bring evidence into dialogue with policy, practice, and wider audiences.

The Wyss Academy for Nature’s Management Center brings together the functions that support the organization’s day-to-day operations and long-term development. It includes the competence areas of People & Culture, Finance & Controlling, ICT/Digital Happiness, Governance & Legal, Funding & Acquisitions, and Internal Services & Support.

The Management Center works across the Wyss Academy, supporting its Regional Hubs and Competence Centers with the systems, expertise, and services they need to work effectively. Its role is to provide lean and reliable support, strengthen coordination across the organization, and help create the conditions for teams to focus on their work.
