Forest landscape restoration through agroforestry

Forest landscape restoration through agroforestry
- Our Objective
We support the Wyss Academy’s forest landscape restoration efforts by generating strategic knowledge to scale agroecological solutions that promote biodiversity, strengthen climate resilience, and sustain local livelihoods.
- Figures
The project was launched on March 17, 2022 and is currently in progress.
Summary
This project collaborates with Wyss Academy teams and partners to co-develop, test, monitor, and scale agroecological restoration interventions—currently focusing on agroforestry systems in Tambopata, Madre de Dios, Peru.
Through a participatory and interdisciplinary approach, the project collects data from over 100 farms, identifies opportunities for scaling through stakeholder engagement, and models long-term impacts to guide implementation, planning, and policy decisions. As part of a broader set of restoration efforts in Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia, the project emphasizes adaptive, locally tailored practices that integrate traditional knowledge with scientific innovation.
