Near the Masoala Peninsula, farmers are already growing differently — pairing chili with cloves and vanilla, restoring degraded soils, and building more resilient livelihoods through agroforestry. The next question is how to support that shift at the level of national policy. 

To help answer it, the assessment of Madagascar's agroforestry policy was carried out by  The Full Circle Initiative (FCI) - a program implemented by Wyss Academy for Nature and Laboratoire de Recherches Appliquées, in partnership with the Agroforestry Alliance, with local consultants SR Consulting engaged to lead the study. The work included a stakeholder exchange workshop in January 2026, and has now produced two resources: both available for download (original reports in French). 

Since the final report was delivered in May, the Policy Brief has been formatted and shared across the Agroforestry Alliance's network, a concrete advocacy tool now helping make the case for agroforestry at the government level, and a step toward the kind of systemic change the regenerative agriculture work on the ground is already pointing to.
