Applications are now open for the second edition of the Art & Science Residency on Amazonian Forests, inviting artists from Peru, Brazil, and Switzerland to immerse themselves in the rich cultural and ecological landscapes of the Amazon and later reflect on this experience from Rome.

This three-month program (six weeks in Madre de Dios, Peru and six weeks at the Istituto Svizzero in Rome, Italy) offers artists a unique opportunity to engage deeply with nature, local communities, and interdisciplinary knowledge to create powerful, transformative work.

Madre de Dios: a living laboratory for change

The first part of the residency will take place in Tambopata Province, one of the most biodiverse regions in the world. Here, artists will be hosted by the Wyss Academy for Nature’s South America Hub and will be invited to explore the Amazon through dialogues with Indigenous leaders, conservationists, farmers, researchers, entrepreneurs and other local actors who live, work and love the forest.

This immersive experience offers a chance to build new narratives, rethink our relationship with nature, and co-create messages that resonate with and emerge from the territory itself.

Rome: Creative Reflection

In the second phase, artists will continue their work at the Istituto Svizzero in Rome, engaging with an interdisciplinary community and preparing public presentations.
