On 29 May 2026, around 60 representatives from municipalities, businesses and the local community gathered in Interlaken for the annual Climate Network event. This event is held as part of the "Climate-neutral region Oberland-Ost" project and brings together people committed to advancing a climate-friendly future for the region. This year's edition focused on the topic of "Consumption & Food."

Following a welcome speech by Ulrich Nyffenegger, Head of the Cantonal Office for Environment and Energy, Stephanie Moser from the Centre for Development and Environment (CDE) at the University of Bern opened the event with a keynote on climate-friendly consumption. She highlighted why our everyday consumption choices matter and how more sustainable lifestyles can be achieved. During the subsequent panel discussion, the executive chef of the Victoria Jungfrau Hotel Interlaken and a local farmer shared insights into their daily work and their contributions to sustainable, climate-friendly food systems.

The second part of the event focused on local climate action. Alina von Allmen shared her experiences as a climate coach and introduced the Climate Workshop (Klima-Werkstatt), a participatory programme in which participants develop climate-related business ideas over a six-month period with professional support. The initiators of the projects Klimakaffee, LingerLonger and 4tomorrow then presented their ideas, reflecting on their first experiences, the challenges they encountered and the progress they have made so far.

Beyond providing fresh inspiration, the Climate Network created space for dialogue, exchange and shared learning. Once again, the event demonstrated how important collaboration and networking are for driving the transition towards a climate-neutral Oberland-Ost region.
