Event Facts

We are pleased to invite you to the online kick-off event in the pilot region of the Wyss Academy project LANAT-3 “Preventing biodiversity loss in waterbodies despite climate change”. It will take place on 28.01.2026, from 16:00-18:00 (UTC+1) and will be held in German and French, with simultaneous translation.

The pilot region covers the river basins of Saane and Sense and the section of the Aare from Saane until lake of Biel, with a particular focus on the communes in the cantons of Bern and Fribourg. The overall goal of the event is to introduce the project to open a broad dialogue between the project and stakeholders from the pilot region that have a direct or indirect impact on the aquatic biodiversity.

The 1st part of the event will provide an overview of the current state of the aquatic biodiversity and the main challenges for its conservation and restoration. Then we will present the project, and the team involved, along with an explanation on how the pilot region was selected and what is planned there. The 2nd part presents the findings from the context analysis of the pilot region. This includes an overview of the ecological state, as well of the ongoing processes and projects in the pilot region. We will conclude with a part that focuses on the needs for action concerning aquatic biodiversity in the pilot region.

We hope to see many of you there and look forward to your participation!
