
Dr. Horst Weyerhäuser
Hub Director, Regional Stewardship Hub Southeast Asia
Dr. Horst Weyerhaeuser is the Regional Senior Advisor and Hub Lead at the Hub Southeast Asia. He grew up on a mixed farm with community forests and studied Ecology, Natural Resource Management and Geographic Information Systems & Remote Sensing in the US and UK. With a PhD in Social & Community Forestry from Freiburg University, Germany, he has worked for various international development, donor and research organisations, including GIZ/BMZ, Sida, World Bank, UNOPS, UNDP. Horst also developed regional and national development programs in Afghanistan, Southeast, South and Central Asia. His expertise includes fostering stakeholder collaboration and supporting landscape-based solutions for sustainable mountain management. His main interests are the intersections of agricultural development, improved livelihoods, and resource security.
