2025 Program

In July, the 2025 Changemakers focused not only on advancing their individual projects but also on understanding the personal drivers behind their work. Through sessions on self-reflection, coaching, and storytelling, they explored how getting to know themselves better—and supporting each other along the way—can lead to stronger, more lasting impact.

From reflection to connection: Growing together
The month began with two sessions that encouraged Changemakers to pause and reflect, one focused on the individual, the other on the group. Through small group conversations and journaling, they opened up about the expectations they feel from their families and communities: to succeed, to lead, and to stand for something bigger than themselves. Many shared how hard it can be to keep up that image of strength, especially when dealing with burnout, uncertainty, or lack of support. As one participant put it, “We’re expected to be strong, even when we’re tired.”For some, it was the first time they had the chance to express these feelings, and to realize they weren’t alone. Guided exercises and group discussions helped shift the idea of leadership from something heavy and individual to something shared and supported by others.

Coaching, confidence, and shared realities

In July’s second round of coaching, Changemakers had space to check in on their progress and speak honestly about what wasn’t working. Many shared that they were feeling overwhelmed, struggling to balance personal responsibilities with the demands of developing their projects. Others expressed uncertainty about how to move forward or whether they were doing enough.

Facilitators introduced practical tools like energy mapping (to identify what fuels vs. drains them) and impact barometers (to track what’s actually working). In peer coaching breakout rooms, participants listened to each other’s challenges and offered support.

The tone was honest and encouraging. One Changemaker said, “Same here, I thought I was alone in this.”

By the end, many left with a clearer focus, and a stronger sense that their struggles weren’t theirs alone to carry.

Demo Day 2: Pitching progress

In the second round of Demo Days, Changemakers returned with more focused, confident pitches, built on the feedback they received in June, from Demo Day 1. Projects ranged from land restoration with aloe vera and beehive fencing to teaching children about nature and sustainability and digital learning spaces in remote areas.

Facilitators encouraged participants to clarify their messages, share the “why” behind their ideas, and connect their work to real community needs. Compared to Demo Day 1, presentations were better structured, more personal, and included stronger visuals.

Across the sessions, feedback focused on helping participants simplify their messages, highlight outcomes more clearly, and connect their ideas more directly to community needs. That input will carry into Demo Day 3 in August, where Changemakers will continue building stronger, more actionable pitches.

One facilitator put it simply: “It’s not about impressing. It’s about telling the truth of your community.”

What’s next: Putting insights into action

While July gave space for personal reflection and peer support, it also laid the groundwork for what’s coming next. In August, Changemakers will continue refining their projects and preparing for Demo Day 3, where they’ll share updated pitches shaped by new learnings, clearer goals, and community feedback.

They’re still on the journey, but transformation is already taking shape. Their ideas are getting sharper. Their confidence is growing. And the support they’re building around each other is becoming just as important as the projects themselves.

As one Changemaker reflected after Inner Work:
“This helped me feel more connected to everyone here. We’re not just working on projects, we’re growing together.”

And that’s exactly what’s happening!
