Dr. Eda Elif Tibet

Postdoctoral Researcher, Bridging Values, Land Systems and Sustainability Transformations

Dr. Eda Elif Tibet is a postdoctoral researcher at the Wyss Academy for Nature, working towards transdisciplinary research processes on Biodiversity Governance for Just Conservation. She is an award winning documentary filmmaker, as well as a visual and environmental anthropologist. She leads her own independent applied research initiative, Animating the Commons, hosted at the University of Bern, and works at the intersections of mobility justice, systems change and conservation. Forming unorthodox coalitions and building alliances, Dr. Eda Elif Tibet supports and consults organizations in various capacities through her signatory multimodal approach. She has been recognized as a trailblazing engaged anthropologist by the Swiss Anthropology Association. Eda formerly held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Critical Sustainability Unit (University of Bern) and University of Oxford (2023). She earned a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) funded PhD in Social Anthropology, University of Bern (2019) and an MPhil from the University of Kent with a graduate teaching assistantship (2013).
