Towards Implementing an Ecological Infrastructure
How can land use become more compatible with nature and landscape in order to preserve biodiversity and ecosystem services?
Land use and nature conservation
The ecological infrastructure is, simply expressed, a network of natural and semi-natural habitats (= core areas) and networking corridors (e.g. wildlife bridges, semi-natural water bodies, hedges and other small structures). The goal of this project is to determine and develop parameters of implementation for the Swiss canton of Bern, thereby making land use more compatible with nature and landscape in the long term, in turn preserving biodiversity and ecosystem services.
